People of all income levels request financial aid.
The TADS formula for calculating Household Contribution to
Education (HCE) works for everyone, including those on
government assistance and those who own large corporations and partnerships.
TADS allows financial aid administrators to adjust many of the
values that are used to calculate HCE so the results more accurately
reflect the philosophy and values of the school. TADS believes these
adjustments should be established before need is determined rather
than after and that some formula values should be based on local
standards rather than those used nationally. Some of the formula
values that may be adjusted for customization include:
- Minimum and maximum allowed monthly housing expense
- Monthly allowance for food, clothing and personal expenses
- Health insurance expenses allowed
- Medical expenses allowed
- Charitable contributions allowed
- Day care expenses allowed
- Contributions to retirement accounts allowed
- Elderly care expenses allowed
- Percent of Excess Assets that should be used toward tuitions.
